AhlulBayt News Agency: Robert Fantina, an American-Canadian political analyst, has described the joint US-Israeli imposed war on Iran and their indiscriminate bombing campaign as a war crime and contempt for international law.
In an interview with Iranian News Agency IRNA on Wednesday, Fantina explained the ultimate goals of US President Donald Trump for launching the illegitimate war, and the consequences and repercussions for his actions against Iran.
Stating that the warmongering is a usual business for the United States, he said the situation is worse under the chaotic presidency of Trump, who bombed Iran once again in the midst of negotiations, repeating the same mistake he did last year.
He said, Trump's bombing campaign against Iran in last June was at the behest of the Israeli regime, which, then had anticipated a quick, decisive victory, but needed its own rescue after Iranian missies started raining down on Tel Aviv, and elsewhere of the occupied territories.
According to him, the US not only allows Israel to start the mayhem, but also finances the regime as it did in the case of the genocide of Palestinians. "Trump sees no problem with violating international law and committing war crimes, such as in targeting hospitals, residential areas and schools."
He underlined that the US and the Israeli regime, with their attacks on Iran, which constitutes a war crime, once again showed their complete disdain for international law. Fantina expressed disappointment that there was no one to hold American and Israeli war criminals accountable, calling the United Nations "a completely useless" organization.
Referring to the US and Israeli assassination campaign, the analyst said there's no justification for murdering a political or military leader of any country, adding that the US was not held accountable when General Qassem Soleimani was assassinated in 2020, during Trump’s first disastrous term in office, and therefore, he feels free to continue to assassinate world leaders.
Trump's kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro just a few weeks ago is another example of Trump's complete contempt for international law.
He warned that the consequences of assassinating Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei will be extensive, saying West Asia has already been plunged into chaos amid the war on Iran and the Islamic Republic's "rightly" response by targeting American military bases.
On the Israeli-Arab nexus, Fantina said some regional countries are working with the Israeli regime and the United States, which would lead to more unrest in those countries, as the people there see yet another betrayal by their governments, following the normalization with Israel, and their inaction on the genocide of Palestinians.
Referring to the impact of the Iran war on America's domestic politics, he said Trump’s base is already showing signs of weakening as his ardent supporters believed he would focus on the slogan 'Making America Great Again’, but they are furious over another foreign war, different from his campaign pledge.
According to him, Joe Biden's refusal to take the Israeli genocide seriously, and Kamala Harris’ echoing of Biden’s stance on the issue was instrumental for her election defeat, and therefore, Trump’s power in Congress is headed for electoral defeat in November.
Fantina cited two main objectives of the war on Iran. First, the US government wants Israel to be the only powerful entity in West Asia, no matter it is brutal, repressive, or racist since Israeli lobbies remain mainstays of US political campaigns.
Second, he said, was the explosive files of the world’s most prominent pedophile, Epstein, in which, Trump’s name appears repeatedly as he was his close friend, and the Republican-controlled Congress tries to distract the public from the issue.
Fantina explained that Trump would have no worries about starting a major war, destabilizing an entire heavily-populated region, and potentially killing tens of thousands of people, to hide his dirty secrets. "He cares for no one but himself," he concluded.
